Paperwork is out. Digital reporting is in.
In 2010, New York City Public Schools decided to tap into the power of the Salesforce.com cloud-computing platform to help teachers track reading performance for the more than one million students in their classrooms. Because the Salesforce interface is built for the corporate world, not the classroom, designing a completely customized user experience was a key challenge.
LookThink partnered with Acumen Solutions to develop a strategic solution that provided both reliable data management and an interface that made sense to teachers. The application, now called Reading Tracker, would need to enable teachers and administrators to analyze data and produce reports for over 1,400 classrooms.
LookThink customized the visual design of the Reading Tracker to ensure our most important users, the teachers, would adopt it. Through interviews and discovery sessions, we learned how teachers interact with applications, what data the tool needs to display, and that the tool must be implemented with minimal training.
In 2011, the Reading Tracker was successfully launched to the largest school system in the country and represents one of the largest instances of Salesforce.com in the nation. Today, 80,000 teachers use Reading Tracker to monitor and analyze progress of over one million students, without a single sheet of paper.
Now that’s efficient.
